Brief Overview of Microsoft Word Format Menu Options

  • Font

    This option is used to set font type, style, size, color, underline style, underline color, effects, character spacing and animation text effects.

  • Paragraph

    This option is used to set the paragraph alignment and indentation of the paragraph. We can increase or decrease the space between paragraph to paragraph or the lines in a paragraph.

  • Bullets and Numbering

    This option is used to insert bullets and numbers. We can select a particular bullet style or number style. We can also set bullet position and the space between bullet to text.

  • Borders and Shading

    This option is used to apply borders to a paragraph or the selected text. We can apply page borders also. MS Word provides some free designed arts to set as the page borders.

  • Columns

    This option is used to divide the document into columns. When this option is selected it displays columns dialog box. Select a particular preset or insert number of columns. We can insert a line between columns. We can increase or decrease the width of columns and also the space between columns.

  • Tabs

    This option is used to set the tab stop position. The default tab stop position is 0.5 inches.

  • Drop Cap

    This option is used to convert the starting letter of a paragraph into big letter. We can change the font type of the drop up lines and the space between drop cap to text.

  • Text Directions

    This option is used to change the direction of a drop cap or the content of a text box or the content of a table.

  • Change Case

    This option is used to convert the selected text into upper case or lower case or sentence case or title case or toggle case.
