If you have wanted to convert files using a free service online over the past four years or so, then there is a good chance that you have encountered Cometdocs at some point in time. This online document management service offers its users the ability to also store files in the cloud and easily share them with others, but more than anything, it’s known for its great file conversion capabilities.
The Cometdocs team seems to have been working hard recently, releasing a slew of new features. It has released a desktop app that enables its users to convert files with Cometdocs without having to visit the site via web browser and it has also launched an API service available for people who might be interested in integrating Cometdocs’ conversion technology into their own apps.
Now Cometdocs has also launched a mobile app for iOS users that enables them to use the service from their phones or tablets. - GETTING STARTED: Enter your Cometdocs credentials to log in to your account.
- PERFORMING CONVERSIONS: If you have a file in your Cometdocs account that you would like to convert into some other format, just tap on the file and choose your conversion type. Cometdocs offers a massive amount of conversion options. You can convert PDFs into a large variety of more editable file formats. It also allows you to convert just about any document into a PDF file.
- TRANSFERRING FILES TO OTHERS: If you want to share a file with someone else, tap on the Transfer link and enter the email id of the person you want to send the file to. You can also include a personalized message to go with the file. This option is very useful if you want to send large files. Since most email clients have very strict limitations on attachment sizes, you can bypass these limits and still share files via email with Cometdocs. The person you send the file to will receive a link in their email that will allow them, and only them, to download the file you have sent.
- UPLOAD FILES FROM OTHER APPS TO COMETDOCS: Do you want to send a file from another app on your smartphone or tablet to Cometdocs for storage and perhaps conversion? Simply locate the file within that app and choose to open it with Cometdocs. The services awards free users with 2GB of storage space.
All in all, the Cometdocs app interface is very sleek and incredibly easy to use. Another great thing about the app is that it is incredibly resource efficient. When you are performing conversion via Cometdocs, the conversions are not being performed by the app. The app simply sends the file off to Cometdocs’ online servers, which is where the conversion takes place. This means that performing conversion from your mobile device will not drain your battery or even slow down your iPhone or iPad one bit while the conversions are being performed online.
