RRB Group D Exam 2021: Detailed Syllabus and Exam Pattern

RRB Group D:

This is an exam conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board to fill the vacancies in the various Railway Departments. These are the Central Government jobs. The selection group of the RRB Group D exam consists of four stages.

  1. Stage 1 is a Computer-Based Exam.
  2. Stage 2 is the Physical Test.
  3. Stage 3 is Document Verification.
  4. Stage 4 is Medical Examination.

The eligible age limit for the RRB Group D exam is between 18 years to 33 Years. However, there is a relaxation on the upper limit on certain categories. Candidates should have the Class 10th pass certificate, ITI degree or diploma to appear for the exam. The exam pattern is as below:

The four sections in the RRB Group D exam are:

  1. Section 1 General Science.
  2. Section 2 Mathematics.
  3. Section 3 General Intelligence and Reasoning.
  4. Section 4 General Awareness and Current Affairs.

The number of questions is 100. Based on the examination of Computer Based Test (CBT), they will be chosen for the PET (Physical Efficiency Test). After qualifying in CBT and PET, the process of verification of documents is done.

After the Document Verification process of candidates, the next is the Medical examination round. The appointment letter is issued for the candidates who pass the medical examination. RRB Group D examination date will be officially announced by the Railway Board.

RRB Group D Syllabus

Reasoning and General Intelligence.

The important topics of this section include Blood relations, Calendars, Clocks, Statements and Conclusions and Seating arrangements. Candidates can focus more on these topics. Other topics include Venn Diagram, Syllogism, Statement- Arguments and Assumption, Similarities and Differences, Relationships, Mathematical Operations, Jumbling, Directions, Data Interpretation and Sufficiency, Conclusion and Decision Making, Coding-Decoding, Classification, Analytical Reasoning, Analogies, Alphabetical and Number Series.

Syllabus for Mathematics consists of the following topics.

  • Topic 1 Number System and BODMAS.
  • Topic 2 Fractions and Decimals.
  • Topic 3 Geometry and Trigonometry.
  • Topic 4 HCF and LCM.
  • Topic 5 Elementary Statistics.
  • Topic 6 Square Root and Percentages.
  • Topic 7 Ratio and Proportion and Calendar and Clock.
  • Topic 8 Time and Work and Time and Distance.
  • Topic 9 Simple and Compound Interest and Profit and Loss.
  • Topic 10 Mensuration, Algebra, Age Calculations, Pipes and Cistern.

Mathematics is a subject that needs practice. Focus on the calculations, Square and Cube roots so you can be quick and accurate. Understand the basic concepts like Simplification, Problems on age, Allegations and Mixtures and problems on Train. This will help you to tackle the paper easily.

Syllabus for General Awareness and Current Affairs.

Candidates should be aware of the current affairs of India and around the world. Focus on Economics, Political Science and Technology, Sports, Culture etc. Start preparing for the exam from day one. This will help your preparation to be easier and more efficient. The candidates can focus on some of the important topics which are FIFA World Cup, List of Arjuna Award Winners, Members of Lok Sabha, Members of Parliament and Governors of India.

General Science.

The best way to prepare the Science subject is to be thorough with the NCERT Science books of class 10. You can download the NCERT solutions of class 10 where all the chapters are given in a very simple manner and easy to understand.

Preparation Tips

Go through the books thoroughly in detail. Understand the syllabus and the topics. You might be weak in some topics and strong in some. Make your weak points stronger with practice and dedication.

Candidates can check for free mock test RRB Group D for practice. There are many online Mock tests. Candidates should practise more on these and solve the previous year question paper to know the pattern and the format of answering the questions. Prepare a proper study plan and structure following all syllabus and the topics. Give more time to the topics which need more focus and practise. Study in small sessions and set a goal. RRB Group D exam is difficult but nothing is impossible if you have a will to achieve your goal and work hard from the beginning. Understand all the syllabus and the topics and make a note of the important topics and also your weak sections. This will give you a pattern to make a proper study plan. Solve the question papers and take mock tests as much as possible. Practise on mathematics topics, especially the square and the cube roots. Focus on calculation and improve your speed.
