History of Data Store in Packages Overview

For data store purposes in normal packages came the following – WordStar (MicroPro), Microsoft Word, Adobe PageMaker, Lotus (IBM) and Microsoft Excel. Whereas data store in database packages include DBMS (Data Base Management Systems), RDBMS (Relational Database Management Systems) and ORDBMS (Object Relational Database Management Systems) packages.

  • DBMS packages are dBase, FoxBASE and FoxPro
  • RDBMS packages contain MS Access, Sybase, IBM Informix and Oracle 7.3
  • ORDBMS packages include Oracle 8I, Oracle 9I, Oracle 10g, Oracle 11g, Oracle 11i and Oracle 12c.

The main differences between normal packages and database packages is that normal packages have no standard format, they are query difficult and no security whereas with the database packages a standard format exists, they are query simple and there is full security features existing.
