Brief Overview of Microsoft Word Insert Menu Options

Microsoft Word Insert Menu:-

  • Break

    This option is used to insert page break or a column break or a section break in the document.

  • Page Numbers

    This option is used to insert page number to our document. Here we can select positioning and alignment of the page number on pages. If we want page number only on first page then we have to select “show number on first page”.

  • Date & Time

    This option is used to insert date and time at the insert position. We can select a particular date & time format from date & time dialog box.

  • Symbol

    This option is used to insert symbols and special characters. The symbols are in symbol, webdings, windings and so on.

  • Comment

    This option is used to insert comments at the insertion point.

  • Caption

    This option is used to insert captions like figure, equation, table and so on.

  • Footnote

    When this option is selected it displays footnotes and endnotes dialogue box. Footnotes are displayed at the bottom of the page whereas endnotes are are displayed at the end of the document. It is used to inserts a number or a symbol at the top of the word and we insert the related word or meaning at the bottom of the page.

  • Text Box

    This option is used to insert text in a rectangular or a square. It is also used to insert captions and call-outs.

  • File

    This option is used to insert another file content in the present document at insertion point.

  • Object

    It is an easy way to work with another application from the active document. We can insert the application as a icon and or an object.

  • Hyperlink

    This option is used to insert a link between one or more files and to link text to a location online.

  • Bookmark

    This option is used to insert bookmarks. Each bookmark has a name and we can move one bookmark to another bookmark easily.
