Until now, Nokia had targeted its Windows Phone 8 handsets towards the higher end of the smartphone market. However, all is set to change with the launch of the Nokia Lumia 620 – an entry-level smartphone that promises to deliver a good package of features for those who don’t want to burn their pockets on the more expensive phones.
Lumia 620 Interchangeable Covers:
The Lumia 620 has an interchangeable rear cover which can be replaced with a new colored panel to give the phone a new look whenever you want. Nokia is offering seven different colors to choose from – Lime Green, Orange, Magenta, Yellow, Cyan, White and Black so you have a wide range of options to choose from.
The back panels have a dual-color tone which looks amazingly stylish and vibrant. In terms of dimensions, the handset measures 115.4 x 61.1 x 11 mm and weighs 127 grams which gives it a compact and lightweight feel. It also fits comfortably into your hand for one-handed operations. On the right edge, there is a volume control button, power/lock key and a dedicated camera key. On the bottom edge, you’ll find the microUSB port while the headphone slot rests on the top.
Lumia 620 Screen:
The Nokia Lumia 620 flaunts a 3.8 inches TFT capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. The screen size is a bit small by today’s standard but that’s a compromise you’ll have to make for buying an entry-level smartphone. However, you won’t have any complaints regarding the image quality. It’s bright, detailed and offers rich colors. Nokia has also added its ClearBlack technology which improves outdoor visibility by reducing reflections off the screen.
Lumia 620 Camera:
The Lumia 620 has a 5 megapixel rear-facing camera that manages to capture good quality shots. It’s certainly not the best, but users will be more than happy to click photos and record videos with it for sharing on social networking sites. Photos captured with the sensor are quite good as they have plenty of detail and natural colors. Users will also be able to record 720p videos at 30 frames per second.
Nokia Lumia 620 Runs on Windows Phone 8 Mobile OS
As we mentioned earlier, the Lumia 620 is the latest in the series of Nokia phones to run Windows Phone 8. The latest Microsoft mobile OS has been steadily gaining ground and has turned out to be a good alternative to Android and iOS. The home screen has resizable live tiles and Nokia has provided themes which match the color of the back cover of your phone. On the apps front, the phone has almost everything covered. There is a music player, video player, and games, Facebook, Twitter, Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive and much more. The Windows Phone app store doesn’t quite have the same amount of apps as the iOS and Android stores, but many of the popular third-party apps are available.
Lumia 620 Hardware:
The Nokia Lumia 620 ships out with a dual-core Snapdragon S4 1.5 GHz processor, Adreno 320 GPU and 512 MB of RAM. That’s enough power to keep the phone running smoothly and efficiently. You also get a modest internal memory of 8 GB, but that can be expanded by up to 64 GB using an external microSD card slot. The battery is a removable Li-Ion 1300 mAh unit which is quite low but surprisingly manages to deliver an all-day performance with ease.
